Confirmation 2022
31st May 2022

After the disruption of recent years, we were absolutely delighted to have two confirmation services during 2022.

Having already confirmed 20 students in the Autumn Term (following their service being postponed twice in 2021 due to Covid), we were delighted that a further 35 students prepared for confirmation in the Spring Term this year – 21 preparing for confirmation in the Church of England, and 14 in the Roman Catholic Church.

Both sets of students met regularly in small groups during the Spring Term. Gathering together in this way, they learned more about the Christian faith, as they deepened their personal commitment and their understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Each course of preparation ended with a time of retreat, where they were able to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life in order to prepare themselves for the moment of confirmation.

With the preparation complete, as the Summer Term began, the Church of England candidates and their supporters welcomed the Right Reverend Rachel Treweek, Bishop of Gloucester, to Christ Church, where she officiated at a service of Holy Communion with Baptism and Confirmation on Saturday 30th April. The Catholic candidates gathered at St Gregory’s Church with their families and friends where Father David Mills officiated at their Confirmation Mass on Saturday 21st May.

It was an absolute joy to be beside our candidates as they prepared, and to be part of both services. As always, while learning about their own faith, the candidates taught us a great deal during the preparation process and it’s a privilege to share their journey.

We continue to pray for them all on the next leg of the adventure: Helena, Charlotte, Chloe, Nicole, Tilly, Bella, Phoebe, Cameron, Siobhan, Somto, Kalina, Sofia, Kiho, Alison, Demelza, Jemima, Beatrice, Stella, Lily, Amy, Gabriella, Bel, Lucy, Allie, Bea, Semi, Claudia, Georgia, Laura, Anna, Evie, and Maddie, along with Ruby, Esohe and Tami who were baptised as well as confirmed.
