Confirmation 2025
9th May 2025

This Saturday, we had the privilege of standing alongside 22 girls and two staff members as they made the deeply personal decision to be Confirmed. For eight of those girls, this also marked the sacred moment of Baptism.

As a school community, we were delighted to welcome the Right Reverend Robert Springett, Bishop of Tewkesbury, to officiate at the service, and we are deeply grateful to our local parish church – Christ Church – for hosting us so wonderfully.

Confirmation is a significant step on the journey of faith. It’s a time when the candidates affirm the promises often made on their behalf as infants—promises to reject evil, care for others, and to seek Christ in the world around them.

Over the holidays, I had the joy of visiting La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona with my 80-year-old father. The famous architect Gaudí, whose vision still inspires awe, once said, “The straight line belongs to man. The curved line belongs to God.”

That phrase stayed with me, because in Confirmation, we are inviting these young people to embrace something of the beauty and mystery of the ‘curved lines’. We are encouraging them to pursue a humanity and faith that is humble, open, and responsive to God’s movement—a faith that treasures wonder, serves others, and seeks love in all things.

And to this we add a very heartfelt ‘Amen’.

With love, Reverend Rosie & Reverend Helen
