Conrad Clarke Painting Workshops
7th July 2025

Over three days during the end of the Summer Term, students had the opportunity to work alongside the prestigious landscape painter Conrad Clarke.

Students have been learning to paint still lives, blocking in with a warm tonal background and cutting in with a contrasting colour. Through this process, students have explored how less detail creates a specific focal point within their painting.

Conrad was highly encouraging and supported selection of complementary colours, offering advice on how to build layers within paintings. Students worked on two paintings throughout the day, the progress from the first to the second was visible as the students gained confidence in this new process.
