On Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th November, Reverend Professor David Wilkinson inspired insightful discussions at CLC about the search for God in contemporary cosmology, offering his varied perspective as a British Methodist minister, theologian, astrophysicist and academic.
He explored the intersection between astrophysics and religion, using his own experience of faith and understanding of the universe to underline how the two seemingly contradicting fields could coexist. With an overview of the evolution and limitations of scientific theories about the beginning of the universe, he took the audience on a journey, from the very boundaries of space to the quarks in atoms, highlighting the meticulous and intricate designs of the universe, in which we only play an insignificant role.
This topic is one that touches on the matter of divine existence and questions the basis of what we know to be true, provoking much curiosity and thought.
