On Monday 21st November, seven UC5 (Year 11) students baked madeleines with Mme Ferré-Dyèvre and Mrs Flewitt in French Cooking Club. We were each given a beret to wear and were given the instructions in both French and English.
We made some delicious madeleines whilst listening to music by French musician, Pomme. As the madeleines were baking, we learned about the interesting link between the French author, Marcel Proust, and the madeleines. A Proustian madeleine (une madeleine de Proust) is an expression used to describe things that remind a person of childhood, or memories from long ago. This was a really fun experience, and I would definitely recommend it!
