During French Week, we held our first-ever Translation Bee. After a tough two-round competition, Georgia (LC2) and Hana (LC3) convincingly beat all opposition and will represent CLC at the regional final at Bath University in June. Well done, both!
Students had to translate as many sentences from English to French as they could in one minute from a bank of phrases they had been given to learn in advance. The first round was the present tense, the second the future with ‘aller’. The regional final will add the perfect tense to the mix – and, yes, all the tenses will be mixed up!
Lots of students had a go and impressed the judges with their knowledge and willingness to persevere. Many are keen to participate in the third round to match themselves against our champions.
We will be holding a Translation Bee for LC1 in June, so watch this space!
