From 16th to 20th March, we celebrated la semaine de la Francophonie (Francophonie Week). It was filled with energy, curiosity, and plenty of fun as students took part in a wide range of cultural activities. The week began with themed Prayers exploring Francophone countries and music, from Nouvelle-Calédonie and Switzerland to Congo and Vietnam, followed by a Francophone World Quiz and lively games of pétanque in the gardens.
Students continued to immerse themselves in global culture by discovering traditional dishes during the Francophone Food Quiz, testing their knowledge in the Francophone Science Quiz, and enjoying a fast‑paced French Culture Kahoot with prizes up for grabs on Wednesday.
Thursday brought a stylish Francophone Fashion Quiz and the chance to learn the classic French playground game élastique, which our LCs thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout the week, students participated in a wide variety of clubs, from French Debating (celebrating French as the fourth most spoken language in the world) to an inspiring cultural quiz. Some particularly motivated LCs also drafted heartfelt letters in French to be sent to care homes in France as part of the 1 lettre, 1 sourire (“1 letter, 1 smile”) project.
The grand finale on Friday saw the school awash in bleu, blanc, and rouge for French Socks Day.
It was a fantastic week celebrating language, culture, and community, with students embracing every activity with joy, curiosity, and collaboration - capturing perfectly the spirit of the week.
