CLC pupils celebrate GCSE results 2023
24th August 2023

Students at Cheltenham Ladies’ College are celebrating outstanding GCSE results today, with 84% of pupils achieving seven or more A* / 9-8 grades, despite the return of pre-pandemic grading throughout England.

Across the cohort, almost half of all results (47%) have been awarded the highest possible 9 grade, compared with the national average of 5%. More than four in every five results (87%) have been awarded A*-A / 9-7 grades.

Principal Eve Jardine-Young said: “I am extremely proud of the dedication and agility shown by our pupils, despite the challenges and adversity that we have all faced in recent years.

“They have handled the uncertainty of the post-pandemic landscape with maturity and perseverance throughout their GCSE studies and exams, and I am delighted that their hard work has culminated in the excellent results they have achieved today.

“My thanks also go to our incredible teaching, pastoral and support staff, for the unwavering support and guidance that they have given these pupils over the last few years.”

Alongside their GCSE studies, a number of pupils also studied for a Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), for which they achieved 93% A*-A grades. Many pupils also pursued their Duke of Edinburgh Award, as well as taking part in national debating, art, and essay competitions, performances, volunteer work, and regional, county and national sporting competitions.
