All 16 of the International Baccalaureate SFC1 (Year 12) biologists spent two days in May at Margam Park Discovery Centre in South Wales, carrying out ecology field work and collecting data for their Internal Assessments (IAs).
The students enthusiastically embraced what was for many their first chance to do some practical ecology, as this topic had been taught remotely under lockdown during their GCSE courses. Kick sampling in the stream was particularly popular, and an impressive range of invertebrates were captured, examined, then returned humanely to their homes.
The pupils were great company, and their energy, enthusiasm and determination ensured that they returned to College with some great new sampling skills under their belts, and plenty of data on which to base their IAs. Well done to everyone who went on the trip.
