Junior Concert 2025
24th June 2025

On Saturday 21st June, the annual Junior Concert took place. Twelve young musicians from Year 7 and Year 8 performed to several hundred students, parents and staff in the Princess Hall.

We had four solo vocal items given by Seraphina, Clara, Zandra and Mika respectively. There were contrasts of musical genres as we heard pieces by Vivaldi, Purcell, Schubert and a song from the musical Carousel. Each performance communicated the story of each song to the audience extremely well.

Our three flautists in the concert were Fira, Cynthia and Eli. Each played with purity of sound. Fira performed with excellent articulation, and Cynthia contrasted this with wonderfully controlled legato phrases. Eli performed unaccompanied Bach with sophistication and poise.

We really enjoyed Angela and Skylar’s saxophone solos. Both were uplifting, showing the full range and power of the saxophone.

Alexandra’s cello playing of Dance Rustique showed her ability to contrast the different sections which the piece required and Clara, who had sung earlier, also captured the fun, quirky character of her oboe piece. Hana showed excellent co-ordination and rhythmic security in Round Dance, which contrasted well with Georgina’s enchanting piano piece by Einaudi.

Our thanks go to Miss Fu, Mr Jones, Mr Carr and Mr Parker for their piano accompanying and to all the invaluable music staff who prepared their pupils so well.

It really was a superb concert by all that performed and what delighted us most were all the smiles from each girl after they performed. Well done!
