LAMDA exam success
18th January 2023

Our Autumn Term LAMDA and Trinity exam results were fantastic yet again. With 51 Distinctions, nine Merits for LAMDA across all levels and two Merits for Grade 6 Trinity duo acting, which includes creating devised work, we can say a huge congratulations to the students involved.

As part of College’s co-curricular offering, students can undertake LAMDA and Trinity qualifications, giving them the opportunity to gain confidence in public speaking and acting, and to develop empathy and a collaborative spirit. Pupils can choose from a range of topics to explore the breadth and depth of drama and public speaking, and to hone their skills in research and presentation techniques. These are all skills that will support them across all subjects and interests, now and in the future.

Pupils can get involved as solo performers or in groups of two, four and eight. Some pupils dream of a life in the theatre, while others use their skills in debating or public speaking. For some, it gives them more confidence and for most it is a lot of fun.

We have a wonderful team of dedicated and experienced visiting drama teaching staff here at College and our pupils that choose these additional drama lessons continue to achieve fantastic results.

Examples of exam pieces during the Autumn Term include:

  • The Trial of Lizzie Borden by David Foxton (Year 8 group)

  • Do we need feminism in the 21st century? (Public speaking, grade 5)

  • The Acid Test by Anya Reiss (Duo acting, grade 8, Year 13)

  • Iron by Rona Munro (Solo acting, grade 6)

  • The Miss Firecracker Contest by Beth Henley (Group acting, grade 8)

  • What can we learn from the pandemic? (Public speaking, grade 7, Year 12)
