In June, the LC1 was taken to Blackpool Brook in the Forest of Dean. We were investigating the theoretical model of a river meander, measuring the width and depth of the channel, and looking for evidence of erosion and deposition in teams; using equipment from callipers to measure pebble size and corks to measure velocity.
We had a picnic lunch and then went to the River Severn near its estuary to complete a field sketch and to compare it to the much smaller Blackpool Brook. Overall, I had a lot of fun working together with friends to collect all the data to analyse back in College. Thank you to the Geography Department for arranging this great trip for us.
