On Tuesday 17th March, we were delighted to welcome Purity Kinoti, Karen Bronham, and Edward and Sandy Elgar to College. Purity is the Head of Education at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, overseeing the work of 28 schools, including Enaikishomi - a school supported by the Amy Elgar Trust, set up by the Elgar family and inspired by their late daughter Amy, a former CLC pupil, who passed in 2005.
Purity spoke in Prayers about the work of Lewa Conservancy and then worked with a small group of LC3 geographers, looking in detail at Rhino conservation. Purity visited a number of lessons, from Psychology to Politics and commented on the global perspective offered in our curriculum. Her visit concluded with a lunchtime presentation and Q&A session in which she shared her inspiring story and answered lots of questions about how community education and the education of women, in particular, is essential for sustainability, wildlife conservation and building more equitable communities in rural Kenya.
At CLC, we continue to explore ways to further develop links between our schools. More information about Lewa and Enaikishomi can be found here.
