Friday 3rd February saw over 120 students gather for the 19th Library Music Night. Bookcases were moved, lights and microphones were set up, and cushions were liberally scattered.
Librarian Mr Todd was on this occasion relieved of his usual hosting duties; instead, an enthusiastic group of Sixth Form students compèred the evening, paying tribute to the place this event has established for itself in CLC tradition.
As per its own tradition, Mrs Brandon and Mick opened the evening, then our largest ever line-up of 28 performers took to the temporary stage with a diverse range of their favourite songs and pieces. Selections ranged from nostalgia to fiery defiance, interspersed with instrumental pieces on violin and strings. We embrace variety and we enjoyed a Cello Suite, as well as the Library Music Night debut of the guzheng, a wonderful Chinese instrument.
In tribute to Olivia Newton John, we finished with a sing-along of You’re the one that I want, and everyone knew all of the words.
Until next time!
Mr Todd, Head of Library Services and Dr Westoby, Library Assistant
