Making an Impact: Giving Day 2025
2nd February 2026

Giving Day 2025 saw our community raise an incredible £116,138, which has supported a range of vital projects across College. Thank you once again for your support – as you’ll see from the update below, your donations are being actively used to help us to achieve our strategic aims and contribute to CLC’s future ambitions.

Inspiring and well equipped learning spaces

We have been able to successfully refurbish all areas of the Music Block over the last two years. This involved full redecoration, installation of more energy efficient LED lighting and new floor coverings. The finished scheme enhances the beautiful historic elements of the building, whilst ensuring it is fit for purpose for decades to come.

DIGITAL HERITAGE PROJECT TO FUTURE-PROOF OUR ARCHIVE

College’s archive plays a vital role in securing College’s legacy and the stories of the many generations who have gone before us and contributed to our history. Thanks to Giving Day, the archive has been able to invest in a digital platform called Preservica, a software solution that is used by institutions such as The National Archives, Yale University and Dartmouth College. Preservica will provide far easier access to records and enable us to decommission legacy systems, and is a long term commitment to enable us to store digital records. Our Archivist has been preparing the guidelines for what should be preserved and the processes by which the information will be transferred.

PV PANELS TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY

During October 2025, we were able to complete the installation of solar panels on both the Sixth Form Block and West Wing roofs. These panels, along with those already installed at the HFC, will reduce our carbon footprint and help to reduce the cost of externally sourced electricity. We are continuing to explore where we could install further arrays across the estate.

REFURBISH FACILITIES TO HELP REACH OUR NET ZERO GOAL

Our rolling programme of building refurbishment is a vital part of making our buildings more energy efficient, from improving loft insulation and installing new double glazed windows, to modernisation of the boilers. Having an historic estate where facilities date from the 19th, 20th and 21st century is not without its challenges but we are constantly looking for innovative solutions to support this work. In 2025, a tangible benefit was the switch to LED lighting, not only reducing our energy use but also improving the lighting levels throughout College.

SOCIAL IMPACT AND PARTNERSHIPS

One of our key goals during Giving Day 2025 was to raise funds to support the continued delivery of our Social Action, Partnership and Community programmes. You can lean more about these fantastic partnerships in our latest blog: 137 Years of Solidarity: The Heartbeat of the CLC and St Hilda’s East partnership.

BEALE AWARDS

Beale Awards, our bursary programme, was named after our longest-serving Principal Dorothea Beale and is one of the cornerstones of our educational provision at Cheltenham Ladies' College.

Not only do Beale Awards create life-changing opportunities for girls from all backgrounds, they are a two-way opportunity. CLC enjoys a rich cultural heritage, and the diversity of our student body stimulates creativity and intellectual curiosity, both in the classroom and beyond.

Fundraising from Giving Day 2025 has helped to continue to fund bursaries and offer transformational educational experiences to pupils across College.
