On Wednesday 1st October, 10 LC3, two UC4, and two UC5 students took part in a vibrant Mexican cooking workshop held in the Food and Nutrition kitchen.
The session provided students with the opportunity to explore Mexican cuisine, teamwork, and food preparation skills in a lively and engaging environment. Working in pairs, students prepared tacos entirely from scratch, using a delicious combination of fresh ingredients, including avocado, coriander, lime, tomatoes, cheese, and bacon. They learned how to chop, mix, season, and assemble their dishes while developing practical cooking confidence. The sound of traditional Mexican mariachis playing in the background added an authentic and festive atmosphere to the workshop.
The session was both educational and enjoyable, with students demonstrating creativity and teamwork throughout. Their finished tacos not only looked colourful but also tasted fantastic, which made students feel proud of the dishes they had created.
We are especially grateful to Mrs Heard for supplying all the fresh ingredients and for kindly allowing us to make use of her kitchen. Señor Moya, Señora Woodhead and Señora Roca's support made this hands-on cultural and culinary experience possible, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part. ¡Ñam, ñam!
