Last Saturday, 14 students from LC3 - SFC1 participated in our first Model United Nations Conference of the year, bringing five honours back home to Cheltenham, including three awards for delegates, one for best resolution and another for best delegation.
Elicia (UC5) shared her highlights from the trip:
“My trip to the RGS MUN conference was both exciting and eye-opening. Right from the beginning, I realised their structure was quite different from what I am used to, which meant I had to adapt quickly and rethink how I approached each session.
“One of the standout moments for me was being the main submitter of my resolution. I was a bit nervous at first, but seeing it pass successfully was incredibly rewarding. I also found myself giving several speeches on the spot, especially when it became clear that my prepared material didn’t fully match what the committee expected. Although challenging, it really pushed me to think quickly and stay confident.
“A big part of what made the conference so enjoyable was the people. I met many new friends through conversations in my committee, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
“I felt especially proud of how well our entire MUN team performed at the conference. The General Assembly was intense, but it genuinely helped me improve my quick thinking and decision-making in a high-pressure environment. Being recognised as one of the best delegations was a great way to end the trip, and it made all the effort feel worthwhile.”
