The German Department is delighted to announce that LC3 (Year 9) student Neriah, has been named as a runner up in the prestigious Oxford German Olympiad 2023.
This competition, which is now in its 11th year, aims to encourage young students studying German to expand their written or spoken skills in a creative way through completing tasks which encourage them to find out more about aspects of German culture.
This year’s theme – Kochkunst – Backlust – Esskultur – was all about food. Neriah chose to write from the perspective of an apprentice chef in a busy Berlin hotel kitchen. Thanks to both her rich imagination and impressive language skills, she was awarded the runner up prize in a competition which saw a huge number of entries.
Neriah has been invited to the prize-giving ceremony which will take place in Oxford’s Bodleian Library. You can read her entry here: Oxford German Network | Results Oxford German Olympiad 2023
