The LC3 Retro Games evening was just brilliant…“We loved it! It was such fun!” is the feedback we have had from our LC3s who came to the event we hosted last Saturday. It seems the visiting boys and staff from Radley College thoroughly enjoyed the occasion as well.
Thanks to our amazing IT Team, who worked so hard to set up a spectacular experience, everyone had the chance to engage with a selection of classic computer games and more. These included consoles, comprising the SNES, Atari, Mega Drive, PS1, Wii and various Nintendo handhelds, loaded with well-loved games such as Mario, Pac-Man, Chuckie Egg, and Space Invaders. They were freely available for everyone to enjoy, and much of the kit came from the beloved personal collections of the IT team, who were also so generous with their time and expertise in creating such a fantastic celebration of aspects of the 1980’s for us all to appreciate.
Students also had the chance to play a range of hands-on activities, including Scalextric, table football, pool, and remote-control cars. For those wanting a break from the action, our chill-out room offered board games and a screening of Back to the Future.
The evening concluded with a thrilling Mario Kart finale, with Dr Hawkins representing CLC in the Staff CLC vs Radley showdown, where she lost very narrowly. Our students really enjoyed the racing finals when Georgina was pitted against Radley’s fastest, also a very close race for Georgina, who sadly lost in the final seconds – all very exciting nonetheless!
The camaraderie, competition and all-around fun made for a memorable, fantastic evening. Mrs Henry and Mr Roberts from the IT team deserve a special mention for all they did to draw everything together – they are superstars, and we appreciate them and their team immensely!
