On Wednesday 21st May, the Lower College Art and Academic Scholars were in for a special treat. We gathered together for an introductory talk about History of Art from Dr Lee Beard (CLC’s Head of History of Art; who is a renowned Art Historian, writer and teacher).
We enjoyed an ice cream in the sunshine, before splitting into two smaller groups to benefit from fascinating presentations about notable 20th century artworks in the College collection. SFC1 History of Art students and Academic Reps - Danika, Iona, Nadia, and Ysabel - each presented on individual pieces by Bridget Riley, Paula Rego, John Piper, and Henry Moore. Their insightful talks were based on their own research and analysis of their chosen artist.
It was a brilliant way to spend our lunchtime, and we have a renewed appreciation for some of the splendid pieces of work we are fortunate to have at CLC. We also really admired the passion and knowledge evident in the way the senior students presented.
