School Archives Day 2026
12th March 2026

On Thursday 12th March, we celebrated ‘School Archives Day’ and the preservation of the history and heritage of CLC, as we continue to collect and preserve records of the past, but also document the achievements of the girls and the activities that make our school vibrant and the community so diverse.

This year, we are also celebrating 30 years of our College Museum, which opened its doors in 1996. The Museum is situated in the old day girls’ entrance hall. Honours boards line the room that is filled with treasures, including Miss Beale’s writing desk and gown, boarders’ trunks and a multitude of photographs illustrating College’s pioneering heritage.

We have a new student-curated display outside the Museum, which exhibits the beautiful letters of a student at Bredenbury Court in the late 1940s, which was College’s Junior School at the time. Many of the letters are ornately decorated, and much pride was taken in the writing of them. They preserve a unique insight into how life at the school has changed since the 1940s, but also illustrate aspects of boarding life that would still be recognisable to pupils today.

Happy School Archives Day!
