During October Half Term, we travelled to Salou, a town just outside of Barcelona, for our Senior Netball Tour.
On our first day, we went to Barcelona, where pupils had the opportunity to spend the entire day exploring the city. They were fortunate enough to get a sense of the culture by exploring the famous food market La Boqueria, shopping on Las Ramblas and seeing the iconic Gaudí architecture. A highlight of the trip was our visit to Port Aventura theme park, where we tried all of the really fun rides.
On Monday, pupils took part in a training session with external coaches, where they were lucky enough to receive expert coaching from a male England netball player. The session focused on through-court movement, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. It was inspiring to learn from a professional and to see the standard required to compete at an elite level. The players learnt a lot, and the energy and teamwork were amazing. To end the day, pupils had an S&C session on the beach in the sunshine, with gorgeous views.
The final day of the tour brought the much-anticipated Netball Tournament. It was a demanding schedule, but both of our teams displayed exceptional effort, sportsmanship, and commitment throughout the day. We are proud to share that both teams represented CLC brilliantly, and a particular congratulations goes to the SFC team, who achieved runners-up position.
A special mention also goes to Tobi and Lizzie (SFC2), who were both selected as Players of the Tournament by the external coaches. This tour was truly unforgettable; it challenged, inspired, and enhanced not only our pupils’ netball skills but also their understanding and appreciation of Spanish culture.
