On Tuesday 30th September, SFC2 students journeyed to London to perform two recitals at Coach House Piano Showroom and St Lawrence Jewry Church.
Read an overview of the highlights from one of our pupils below.
We spent the first half of the day participating in the Organ concert in St Lawrence Jewry, kindly organised by Sir Andrew Parmley, the 689th Lord Mayor of London, who is also the current Chief Executive of the Royal College of Organists (RCO). CLC is now an accredited institution of the RCO, which enabled us to participate in this concert series.
We were then fortunate enough to have lunch with him in the Private Members’ Dining Room of the Guildhall, a historic municipal building in the City of London adjacent to St Lawrence Church. It was particularly fascinating to hear him speak about the history of the City of London, his contributions to the arts, alongside a short and fruitful conversation on Classics.
Finally, the day ended with the piano concert at the luxury West London showroom, Coach House Pianos, one of the UK's leading Piano retailers. I was one of eight CLC students taking part in this concert, performing on a beautiful Bösendorfer 280VC Concert Grand, a sister instrument of the one recently supplied to College by Coach House.
I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to partake in the trip to London. My biggest gratitude goes to Mr David Jones, Head of Keyboard at CLC, who is also my piano teacher.
