SFC Trip to Tanzania 2025
5th November 2025

During the October Half Term, SFC1 and SFC2 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Tanzania. Read on for a recap of the highlights, shared by our pupils.

Over the course of ten days, we had an incredible experience participating in a variety of cultural and biological activities as part of our case study on the Rift Valley escarpment.

A particular highlight was our stay at the Banana Hostel, where we enjoyed a tour of the farm and even caught a glimpse of the jungle. Jade and Dom, our Gap Force leaders, were great, both welcoming and insightful, guiding us to reflect on the significance of ecotourism.

We broadened our understanding of Biology beyond the classroom by conducting large mammal surveys at Manara Ranch and embarking on a safari in Tarangire National Park. There, we observed elephants, giraffes, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles, while learning about their behaviours from an evolutionary perspective.

Our cultural immersion in Tanzania was equally memorable. A visit to a Maasai village offered a fascinating glimpse into indigenous traditions, as the community generously shared their cultural practices and engaged with our questions. Building friendships at the Dageno Girls School was another highlight, particularly while planting trees to support their efforts in developing sustainable agriculture.

We can confidently say this was the trip of a lifetime, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have had such an enriching and unforgettable experience!
