The Singing Prizes 2025 were a remarkable celebration of the vocal artistry and commitment to excellence that characterise singing at CLC. More than 90 performers took to the stage, each bringing genuine conviction and musical integrity to each of their songs. The breadth of repertoire and the confidence shown by singers across all year groups made for a memorable day, with an impressively high standard evident throughout.
This year’s adjudicator, Pamela Hay, spoke warmly about the culture of singing within the school. She highlighted the strength of collaboration between the music and drama departments, noting the depth of storytelling communicated through song and the musical maturity demonstrated by many of our young performers. Her feedback reflected the vibrant, supportive environment that allows students to take artistic risks, grow in confidence, and refine their craft.
A new feature in this year’s competition was the introduction of a Spoken Introduction Award. This initiative encourages students to develop their public speaking skills and to contextualise their repertoire with poise and clarity. It proved to be a valuable addition, strengthening the performers’ understanding of their material and enhancing the audience experience.

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2025 Singing Prizes. Our singing teachers and pianists supported the students with exceptional care and expertise, and colleagues across the school and in houses ensured the day ran seamlessly. The singers are deeply appreciative of the guidance and encouragement they receive, and the commitment shown by staff made this celebration of their voices possible.
