Snowdonia Trip 2025
22nd May 2025

On Friday 9th May, 17 students and four staff embarked on the annual adventure trip to Snowdonia. We all stayed in the Ranger Youth Hostel, which is conveniently situated at the start of the Ranger path to the top of Snowdon.

After an early breakfast we all set off at 8.00am to climb to the top of Snowdon. The weather was bright and sunny and we made timely progress to the top, reaching the summit at around 12.00pm. All the girls did extremely well in the warm, sunny conditions and after lunch on the mountain side we set off down the same track, arriving back at the hostel at 3.30pm.

There was a short break until 4.30pm when we set off to the Beacon Climbing Centre at Caernarfon. The girls then had an energetic and fun-packed hour and a half of climbing after which we set off back to the hostel for a well-earned dinner and an early night ready for the next day.

Sunday had an early start as we had to pack up and clean the hostel before vacating. We then set off to Zip World Llechwedd for a day of underground Cavern Adventure and Bounce Below.

The Cavern Adventure experience takes place in the old underground slate mine caverns. Consisting of 13 mini zip-wire lines, rope bridges and via ferrata, it is a real challenge, with very atmospheric lighting and a constant 6-8c temperature. The girls set off in two groups, each group accompanied by one of the CLC climbing instructor staff. It was an extremely exciting session, and all the girls said how much they enjoyed the climbing and being underground in the demi-dark. After both groups completed the course, lunch was eaten and we were then on to the final activity of Bounce Below.

The Bounce Below session consisted of six massive trampoline style nets, stretched out over an adjoining cavern (the cavern is twice the size of St Paul’s Cathedral!). Slides and spiral staircases allow access to all the levels of fun. An exhilarating hour was spent bouncing and running around, until the girls began to run out of steam after the busy weekend!

At around 3.00pm, we set off back to College after a fun and action-packed weekend which everyone agreed was a real success.
