Golf

Our 2nd Home Fixture was played in beautiful sunny weather at Lilley Brook Golf Course, against Cheltenham College, on Tuesday 30th September. Inspired by the amazing Ryder Cup win over the weekend, the match was a foursomes variation with everyone teeing off and then alternating shots with their teammate.

Regina (UC5) and Elizabeth (UC5) led us off and secured a comfortable win over the top Cheltenham College Pair. Captain Lexie (SFC2) and Vice-Capt Jasmine (SFC2) held on over 10 of the 12 holes and almost won us the second pair. The remaining six team members all battled hard and showed great determination, but ultimately, it was an overall win for our local rivals. A great team effort, and we look forward to our next match away vs St Edward’s on 11 October.

House Running

Last Monday, we witnessed the fantastic efforts of Lower College and the brilliant attitude of everyone involved, as each pupil stepped up to give their best for themselves and their House. Congratulations to all – you should be very proud of yourselves!

Rackets

We had lots going on this weekend for Badminton, Squash and Tennis. Badminton and Squash teams played away at Cheltenham College. We also held an internal tennis match play session at Well Place, in the cold and blustery conditions, for some singles and doubles practice. The conditions were fierce, but we still had a great turnout - well done!

Lacrosse

Last Thursday night, the CLC Senior Lacrosse Squad hosted Bath University and both teams put on a crowd pleasing display of skills and tactics with CLC pushing the older players on the score line throughout the match. A big thank you from Team Lax to all the teachers and pupils who came out to support!

On Saturday, CLC hosted the Junior Welsh Rally with over 150 pupils participating from five different schools. The U12 team demonstrated excellent teamwork and positive attitudes with progress made every game. Miss Long is incredibly proud of everyone involved!

The U13s showed their ability to scan for passing options and work together to transition the ball, while another area of strength was defensive slides, many led by Melissa (LC2), which made for game changing moments.

The U14s played with heart and hustle, proving themselves contenders in every match. Bea's (LC3) flip pass under pressure to assist Mary (LC3) for the goal was one of the best moments of the day! Huge congratulations to the LC3s who played in their first ever lacrosse match for CLC – may there be many more to come!

As ever, GKs deserve a shout out for doing the job none of the rest of us are brave enough to do – well done Katie (SFC2), Kelly (SFC1), Skylar (LC3), Kayla (LC2), Alisa (LC1) and Thea (LC1)!

Netball

On Saturday afternoon, our senior netball squads and U14As travelled to The King’s School, Worcester, for a series of competitive fixtures. Despite facing strong opposition, with many of their players involved in netball performance pathways, our teams demonstrated outstanding resilience and determination throughout. What was most impressive was the attitude and connectedness of all the teams; every player gave 100% and supported one another until the final whistle. Their ability to stay positive, learn from each quarter and keep battling to the end was a credit to the squad. A special well done to the U14 who took the victory against the U15 Kings Worcester squad.

Hockey

It was a fantastic morning for the hockey teams on Saturday against Pate's Grammar School. The U14s had a great team performance focusing on the concept of possession, and had a convincing 6-0 victory with Bea (LC3) scoring a hat trick. The U18s also had a brilliant match, really coming together as a team and showing real grit and determination, winning 2-0. The U14s and U15s teams also demonstrated great team spirit and determination in closely fought fixtures.
