Congratulations to Georgia (LC2), who has been selected for the U13 Girls County Winter Training Programme. She has also been awarded a U12 Girls Impact Award at the recent Gloucestershire Young Cricketers County Age Group Presentation Evening. Georgia’s impact included three wickets for two runs in three overs! A remarkable performance.
Congratulations to Isabella (UC4), who has recently been selected by Basketball Wales to join their National Team Under 16s Academy Programme. She also plays for the Bristol Flyers Under 16s and Under 18s National League Premiership teams, and her newly formed Cheltenham Chargers All Girls team.
These achievements follow her phenomenal progress, between 2023 and 2025, through regional and national basketball levels. She has won multiple championships, including the Under 17s Regional Championship and Basketball Interregional Tournament, and represented Basketball England Southwest All Girls Under 15s in their Aspire programme.
Travelling for an away game generates a different set of obstacles for preparation and performance. Still, the promise of a good game and a stunning view from the lacrosse pitch are definite incentives.
It was a split fixture with one win and one loss. Both teams translated the week’s training into match play by using effective clears to kickstart the attacking transition. They demonstrated improved performance each quarter through possession of draw control, the number of shots on goal and the goalkeeper’s save percentage.
Well done to all the players involved for creating a positive atmosphere of competitive spirit and excellent team culture!
We are incredibly proud to have CLC players participating in all three Home Nations Talent Pathways (England, Scotland and Wales) this season. They were all busy with Regional and National training over the October Half Term. Congratulations to Joanna (LC3), Alice (UC4), Eliza (UC4), Grace (UC4), Issy (UC5), Coco (UC5), Alex (SFC1), Charlotte (SFC1), Gabbie (SFC2) and Arabella (SFC2) for their continued commitment!
Following Autumn trials, Charlotte (SFC1) has been selected for the Scotland U20 Lacrosse Squad for the year ahead, an incredible achievement to be playing at the U20 International level while in SFC1. Charlotte was one of only 13 players selected into the top-tier ‘Performance’ squad for Scotland. She will now be part of the core group training for championships next summer.
Our Squash and Badminton teams played away on Saturday 8th November, against St. Edwards School in Oxford. Teams were challenged by playing against both girls and boys. They all fought hard and played extremely well. We had wins and losses, but lots of smiles on faces.
In Badminton, we finished with a social game, where they played mixed doubles and tried other formats.
Well done to everyone who took part!
The sun was shining over Well Place on Saturday afternoon as more than 80 players, from LC1 to SFC2, gathered for an internal training session.
Continuing the focus on invading space, players took part in a series of practices designed to develop drives onto the ball, depth in attack, and timed leads to open up the circle. When transferring these skills into match play, players demonstrated excellent use of clears and re-offers, beginning to appreciate the importance of accurate timing and effective angles of movement to keep defenders guessing and maintain attacking flow.
On Saturday 8th November, a team of 12 CLC Golfers, from all ages (LC3 - SFC2), played against Cheltenham College at Cleeve Hill Golf Course. The weather was bright and relatively calm on what can be a difficult course. Everyone played really well, and there were six close matches. Mel (SFC2) and Kjersten (SFC1) halved their match, and Elizabeth (UC5) and Gabrielle (LC3) won, which was a great result.
Particular praise for Suri (LC3) and Amelia (LC3) playing their first match for College!
We had a packed schedule of fixtures vs King’s School Gloucester, with the morning full of LC1 and LC2 matches, including the whole of LC1!
The afternoon saw U14A, U18B and a mixed U15B team play some fabulous hockey in very tightly fought fixtures at home and the U15 and U18As away. It was fabulous seeing lots of excellent progression and great goals scored. The pupils were also setting great ‘in-game’ objectives for Mr Padley's Haribo challenges.
We have a very busy few weeks ahead, with U13 and U14s West Regional Finals and the Emily Sumaria Memorial fixtures.
