Isabella (LC3) and her Mixed Under 15s team managed to finish top in their division while her All Girls Under 17s team (she has been playing up an age group) won the Regional Youth Basketball League. She also made it to the Inter-Regional stage of her Basketball England South West Aspire Programme, where she and her team won the Inter-Regional tournament. In this competition, her squad played teams from the West Midlands, East Midlands and the Basketball Wales National Team.
Despite College being quiet over the exam period, it's been an action-packed period for our athletes, with a friendly meet for our U12 and U13 teams against Cheltenham College Prep and Dean Close Prep. This created a wonderful platform to put new skills to the test for our LC1 and LC2s.
Just a few days later, 10 LC3 pupils competed at the District Schools Year 9 Championships, a particular mention goes to Hannah (LC3) who took control of the 1500m race, giving her all to finish 2nd. Also, to Grace (LC3) and Kenny (LC3) for finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the discus, and to Tumi (LC3) for winning her 100m heat to give her a place in the final.
The Championship theme continued at the Year 7 & 8 Cheltenham & District Schools Athletics Championships, where several athletes achieved outstanding results and personal bests. Mimi (LC2) won the 200m in a new LC2 school record, breaking the 15-year milestone, and also placed 3rd in high jump with another school PB. Libby (LC1) claimed victory in the hurdles and set personal bests in both hurdles and long jump, while Alexis (LC1) won the discus (pending new district record) and came 3rd in shot put. The LC2 team finished 2nd overall, with strong performances across events including wins from Ugonna in the 300m, Maddie in javelin, and multiple PBs across the board.
On Exeat Saturday, Grace (LC3), Charlotte (UC5) and Mofe (SFC1) represented Cheltenham Schools at the County Championships. Despite exam pressures, Charlotte placed 2nd in the 100m final, while Mofe won the Senior javelin. We now await confirmation on whether both will be selected to represent the County at the Regional Championships this Saturday.
In a tightly contested match against Denmark Road, the U13B AEGON team were all even after six matches. A tense Championship tie-break sealed the win for CLC! The team travelled away to Westonbirt for another thriller. Once we found our rhythm the girls started to dominate play and came away with a 10-2 victory. Congratulations to LC2s Seraphina, Rose, Natalie, Mary, Allegra and Ellie who were involved in the matches.
On Saturday 7th June, we held our annual School Girls Doubles competition where Gloucestershire schools entered one pair in U14, U16 and U18 age groups. All our players fought hard and had a great morning of tennis.
In the afternoon, we welcomed 20 parents and their daughters for a great afternoon of competitive yet fun tennis. The weather held off and we managed to just complete the event before the heavens opened. Congratulations to Laura (SFC2) and her father for defending the title and being crowned 2025 winners. We also had other awards handed out at the event. Best Sportswomanship Behaviour was won by Bea (SFC2), Best Attitude went to Noa (LC3) and Net Ninja to Serena (UC4). Well done to all involved.
Since half term, the U12 team have won their Super 8s triangular vs Balcarras School and Pates Grammar to secure their place in the next round. The rain ensured that there were no overs bowled on the main square but the U14 teams engaged in a fantastic game in Sports Hall 2 versus touring side Woldingham School – a closely fought game.
We have also had LC3 House cricket. Congratulations to everyone who took part!

The equestrian team has been busy with several competitions. Six riders and their horses made the long trip to Hickstead, having qualified for the National Schools Arena Eventing Championships. The courses were technical and demanded accuracy, bravery and speed. Gabriella (SFC1) and Chloe (LC3) produced outstanding rounds to achieve 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the 100cm class out of 61 competitors. Our 90 team of Seraphine (LC3), Chloe (LC2), Popsy (LC2) and Issy (UC4), all showed outstanding riding and great teamwork. Hannah (LC3) is to be congratulated on not only qualifying for four dressage championship classes, but also winning two of them, being placed 3rd and 4th in the others and being crowned Champion of Champions! All the more impressive is that it was the second year running Hannah has won this championship.
Next was Rectory Farms Schools Showjumping. Eva (LC1) rode beautifully and was placed 5th in her class which was judged on style. She has now qualified for the National Schools Grassroots Championships! Ladin (UC4) produced classy clear rounds in her classes and our 100 team of Chloe, Issy and Popsy turned in superb performances to win the class and qualify for the Championships in October. Popsy was individual 2nd in a huge class. Congratulations to Chloe who then also qualified for the 110cm Hickstead Elite Showjumping Championships, at the end of June.
