We are delighted to share that our U15 team reached the Regional Schools Cup Final - an impressive achievement, especially as five of the six athletes are at the younger end of the age group!
Competing at Bromsgrove School, in extremely wet and challenging conditions, all six pupils showed real grit and determination. The technical sections of the course were particularly difficult, yet the team handled them with calmness and composure. Well done, all!
On Tuesday 11th November, we had a full age-group, three-way gala against Stroud High School, and St Mary’s Calne School. Both teams were strong, which made for an excellent evening of racing. Well done to everyone for stepping up and giving their best!
Congratulations to Michelle (SFC1), who set a new age group record, and the other 11 swimmers who achieved new personal bests.
On Saturday 15th November, six Lower College lacrosse teams competed against St Helen’s School, and St Katharine's School. This annual fixture is a great opportunity for pupils to participate in lacrosse, and it is often the first match for players who are new to the sport.
The focus was on gaining possession of the draw, maintaining possession through midfield transition and setting up the attacking shape to create space for movement of the ball, along with scoring cuts. It was clear to see that all teams improved every quarter and were contenders in their respective matches.
Well done to all the players involved on the day!
On Monday 10th November, three LC3 Netball teams took part in a friendly fixture against The Crypt School, during their club session.
As the matches progressed, the teams showed noticeable improvement and demonstrated strong attacking principles. Players supported each other effectively, and communication on court was clear and consistent, enabling smooth transitions and coordinated plays.
The friendly games provided a valuable opportunity for the teams to build confidence, develop teamwork and apply their skills in a positive, competitive environment.
Saturday 15th November, was a brilliant day for the LC1 and LC2 girls against Old Swinford Hospital. Although the match began with some uncertainty, in the second round, their movement, spacing, and communication had transformed, allowing them to link passes more confidently and maintain better structure on the court.
The afternoon saw a fiercely competitive and physically demanding fixture for a mixed team of U16 and seniors against RGS Worcester. Despite the intensity of the opposition, the team displayed remarkable resilience, refusing to be rattled by pressure or physical challenges. Their adaptability and collective grit were clear strengths. Players stepped up whenever needed and supported each other consistently on and off the ball. A special well done to Leah (UC5), who was awarded the coach's player of the match.
Last week, we welcomed players from Cirencester and Chalford Pickleball Club, to play against 12 of our CLC students. We had players in all year groups getting their first taste of this new and exciting game. They all improved their skills and knowledge and started to implement winning strategies. Well done, all!
Our senior badminton team had a lovely fixture against Cheltenham College. All players performed brilliantly with some convincing wins. They also got their first taste of playing mixed doubles with the senior boys team from Cheltenham College. Well done, all!

In the U18 doubles event, Luna and Arabella (SFC2) took the Gold, with Sophie and Meredith (UC4) claiming the Silver.
Well done to all who took part!
Saturday 17th November, was packed with fixtures against Collegiate School and Dragon School. All the matches were amazingly close, with CLC picking up wins in all but one of the games.
Some fabulous team goals were scored, with particular mention to the U13, who scored a wonderful team goal with Mia and Libby (LC2) combining to pass around the goalkeeper from a fast break down the right.
Florrie (SFC2) and Miss Archer competed at the Gloucester Head Race during Half Term. They raced five kilometres in their dynamic double in a competitive category. They came second in their category with a 90-second personal best time, which is a fantastic effort!
In other rowing news, Mrs Bassett-Jones is training for the London Marathon in April. She is fundraising for the Save the Rhino Charity. In keeping with the theme, we are holding a rowathon.
