Badminton

CLC entered four pairs of players into the inaugural U16 Gloucestershire Badminton Girls Doubles Tournament. The players experienced a fantastic tournament resulting in winning Gold, Silver and Bronze places.

Netball

Well done to the U14 regional netballers, who travelled to Bournemouth on Friday night to participate in the South-West Regionals Netball Tournament on Saturday. They faced some top-level, physical competition and approached every game with enthusiasm and determination to be their best. The team have gained valuable lessons from the experience, both as individuals and as a whole. Each one of them should be exceptionally proud of their performances, representing College admirably.

Equestrian

It is normally a quiet time over the winter for Equestrian, with training being the priority, however, Hannah (LC2) has had an incredibly busy few months competing in the National Schools Dressage, gaining no less than an amazing seven Championship qualifications and ten top 10 results. Well done Hannah!

Issy (LC3) has started her event season preparation by being selected for the Tier 4 British Eventing Talent Pathway. She has also been successful in her showjumping having been placed 6th in the Newcomers and 8th in the Foxhunter at the Pony Premier Show at Aintree in huge classes. She has now qualified for the Winter Pony Championships. Persia (LC3) also secured a good 4th place in the 100cm.

Christina (UC4) recently won a British Showjumping class and qualified for the Blue Chip Championships and Octavia (LC3) jumped a super double clear at Allens Hill in the NSEA qualifier.

CLC training at Rectory Farm in early February was well attended with riders demonstrating very promising performances for the 2024 season.

Pony Racing

Congratulations to Eliza (UC4) for being invited by the British Racing School to join the elite pathway, which picks jockeys who they believe are capable of making it as professional jockeys.

Eliza (UC4) has been pony racing since she was 10 years old. She has previously been national 128cm Pony Club champion (2020 and 2021), 138cm national Pony Club champion (2022 and 2023), runner-up in the national 148cm Point to Point final (2022). and qualified for the Pony Racing Authority series final at Aintree (2023). In the last couple of years she’s ridden 21 winners, including at the racecourses at Cheltenham, Ascot, Goodwood, Kelso, Musselburgh, Wincanton, Bangor, Haydock, Wolverhampton and Fakenham as well as numerous point-to-point courses. She’s also won the Rose Bengal scholarship for the last two years, which is awarded by the Pony Racing Authority to potential jockeys.

Gloucestershire Cricket News

Congratulations to Issy in SFC2 who represented Gloucestershire Cricket on tour to Sri Lanka. The team played in four 40 over matches as well as two T20 matches. One of the opposition teams included five ex-international Sri Lanka players, including the ex-captain whose bowling Issy had to face! An incredible experience for Issy.

House Sports

House Rowing

On the Tuesday before half-term, students from LC3 and above competed in House Rowing. Relay teams of four students had to complete 2000 metres on the rowing machine in the quickest time possible. There was a fantastic atmosphere and all students were cheering each other along. Congratulations to the winning team Glengar (comprised of Delphine, Florrie, Ela and Emmiline) completing the distance in 7 minutes and 27.2 seconds! Glenlee came runners up. Amazing rowing all round!

Guild

In Guild news, Phoebe Thornett (2021) has been selected to represent Forge, and Lauren Lewis (2015) has been selected to represent Hustle in the exciting 6s lacrosse tournament.

Lauren has also been selected to play in England Lacrosse ShE-Box Squad in Prague in April.

Phoebe has been on tour with Senior Scotland in preparation for Senior Home Internationals in April & European Championships this summer. It is brilliant to see players continuing their journey at senior level.
