The first round of the CLC Championship series took place just before half-term, and what a start it was!
The 25m events produced some incredibly quick racing, with 35 new personal bests recorded. One race in particular stood out, the Senior 25m Freestyle. In an extraordinary moment, three age-group College records were broken in the same race, something never seen before at CLC!
Midori (UC5) broke a 21-year standing record and now holds the overall College record, recognising the fastest 25m Freestyle ever swum in College history.
Michelle set a new SFC1 record, and Anna claimed the SFC2 record, breaking another long-standing mark, a truly special moment in College swimming!
Congratulations to Chizara for setting a new age-group record for UC4 in the 25m Backstroke.
Very well done to all swimmers!
The County Swimming Championships have also recently concluded, and it is fantastic to celebrate seven College swimmers competing at this level for their clubs, Poppy (LC1), Georgia and Izzy (LC2), Scarlett (LC3), as well as Ariana, Chizzy and Jess (UC4). A wonderful achievement for all involved!
Over the half-term break, Ariana (UC4) also competed at the Kenyan Long Course National Championships. Congratulations on making the finals and medalling – well done, Ariana!
Lacrosse
Gabbie (SFC2) has been successful in the next phase of trials for this summer's Women’s Box Lacrosse European Championships. Over the February half-term, she participated in an intense selection day and was named to the England Women's team, who will be playing at the annual She Box tournament in April.
This achievement marks an exciting milestone in her sporting journey; the competition serves as an opportunity to gain experience of high-level play against several international teams before the final selection of a 23-player roster who will go on to represent England at the European Box Lacrosse Championships this summer.
Supporters will be able to watch all matches live via the tournament’s YouTube livestream.
