Aquathlon

Our CLC annual aquathlon is a challenge event, designed to encourage personal achievement rather than competition, and this ethos truly shone through, with all participants stepping up to push themselves in the swim-run multi-event.

Well done to everyone involved! We hope this experience has inspired you to take on more events in the future.

Tennis

During our Senior and UC4 PE sessions on Tuesday and Thursday last week, we played against Malvern College. They were all evenly matched games and everyone did brilliantly despite the heat on both afternoons.

On Wednesday last week, we hosted Cleeve School for an U15 AEGON match, who also brought boys over to play some of our senior and U13 students. Games were evenly matched with the U15 Aegon team claiming victory on the last doubles match.

On Saturday, we welcomed Bloxham School which is the first time we have played them in tennis. As most of our LC3s had DofE, we played our U12 and U13s up against their U14 team. For seniors we played singles and doubles and the U15s also had a very successful afternoon of wins. A lovely friendly afternoon of tennis and we will look forward to playing them again next year.

Sidney Lodge duo, Sofea (LC3) and Sofia (LC1) represented CLC in the U18 'Play Your Way to Wimbledon' Doubles Area Final at Oxstalls indoor courts, Gloucester, on Sunday. After a closely contested first set, the match slipped away in the second against experienced 16-year-old players from Painswick. It was a valuable learning experience for the pair, and we look forward to seeing their continued progress in future competitions.

Athletics

On Saturday, the team took part in the Bromsgrove Invitational Meet. Competing on a proper track surface gave the girls a fantastic opportunity to put into practice everything they’ve been working on this term. It was a brilliant end-of-season showcase of their efforts.

Well done to all involved – we look forward to seeing you compete with passion for your House on Saturday morning.

Rowing

An early start for our rowers as they travelled to Stratford-upon-Avon for the annual Junior Sprint Regatta. Ann-Sophie (UC4) and Stella (UC4) put in a strong performance, showing real grit and determination. They gained speed in the second half of their race but unfortunately ran out of water just before catching the opposition at the line.

Delphine (SFC2) and Florrie (SFC1), our dynamic sister duo, raced together for the final time representing College, and what a race it was! They maintained their composure, kept a long and powerful stroke, and should be proud of their efforts. Despite their strong showing, they were narrowly beaten by a formidable Ross and Hartpury composite crew, who went on to win the category.

Nadia (SFC1) also delivered an impressive race, holding a fantastic line and demonstrating real determination. She was ultimately edged out by the eventual category winner. Overall, it was a fantastic day of racing and a wonderful way to end the season at this friendly regatta.

Cricket

We had a fabulous final weekend on the CLC cricket pitches with juniors in action in the morning versus St Edward’s School in softball pairs.

The afternoon saw both the Farnley and main square host the U15 and U14 hardball teams against Cheltenham College and Bloxham School. The U14 team was a combined team – well done to those who stepped up to play their first hardball game. Special mention goes to Maddie (LC2) for scoring 20 runs and to the U15s for an emphatic win over Bloxham School in their triangular.

Thank you to all the players who have represented College in cricket this term. It has been a pleasure to see your development and growth throughout the Summer.
