Dance

We received a truly outstanding set of ballet and modern exam results over the Easter break, huge congratulations to all the girls involved for their hard work and dedication. Special mention to Maddy (SFC2) who passed her Advanced 2 ballet exam with High Merit. Maddy is the first girl to do all five of her vocational ballet exams here at CLC.

Xuan Xuan (UC5) received 90 out of 100 for her Advanced 2 ballet exam, the highest mark received by any CLC dancer and now qualifies to apply for entry in the prestigious Fonteyn Competition later this year.

In the Spring Term 11 LC2-SFC1 pupils attended the International Festival of Dance and Performing Arts at Disneyland Paris. The pupils participated in a competition against other dance schools as well as a workshop with the Disney choreographers. They took part in the pre-parade, dancing with all the other competitors around the park, as well as spending time in the Disneyland parks, watching the fireworks and terrifying Miss Scott on Tower of Terror.

The pupils performed excellently throughout the trip, but their achievements in the competition were exceptional. As a group, they were entered into six different categories and placed 1st or 3rd in every single category.

Skiing

Alice (UC4) finished her ski racing schedule off with a massive win in impressive style over Easter, becoming the British Slalom Champion. An enormous achievement and a brilliant way to end her season.

Julia (SFC1) travelled to Dubai to compete in international FIS races organised by GBR and UAE. Julia performed exceptionally well and achieved 3rd place U18 in two slalom races and 6th place overall. She also achieved her personal best in FIS ranking going for the first time below 200 points.

Hockey

Huge well done to Tasha, Ava, Mia and Jana (LC1) who all represented the Cheltenham Junior Hockey Club U12 team at West Regional finals.

The team made it all the way to the final missing out on Tier 1 National Finals by two goals to the only team to beat them all day.

Best of luck to Mr Padley who will be representing Wales Over 45s as Vice Captain at the upcoming home nations in Cork over Exeat, and European Championships in Valencia during the half term holidays.

Cricket

Helena (UC5) made her debut for Cheltenham Women’s first team on Saturday contributing to a confident win over Hatherley and Reddings.

Good luck to all those involved in local cricket clubs and school cricket for the season ahead.

Equestrian

The Equestrian Team have had a busy start to the season with riders taking part in a variety of competitions. Read below to hear about some of our recent equestrian success:

  • Popsy (LC2) and Seraphine (LC3) achieved fabulous fast clear rounds at Rectory Farm’s Schools Showjumping. Well done to Popsy for gaining 2nd place, and Seraphine for gaining 5th in the 90cm class.

  • At the same venue, our team of Seraphine, Popsy, Issy (UC4) and Chloe (LC3) won the 90cm Arena Eventing class and qualified for the Hickstead Schools Championships! Chloe and Gabriella (SFC1) are also off to the Championships with 3rd and 2nd places individually in the 100 class.

  • Hannah (LC3) has been exceptionally busy all winter competing in the Schools Winter Dressage Championships. She has been highly placed in no less than four classes every month and has very deservedly qualified for the Dressage Championships at Hickstead.

  • Seraphine also started her Eventing season with a 6th place with a double clear in a competitive section at Ascott-under Wychwood.

  • Olivia (UC4) placed 3rd at Waverton Horse Trials with a double clear and excellent dressage mark.

  • Issy has had two excellent British Eventing results with 6th and 7th placings in highly competitive Pony Trials classes.

  • Gabriella passed her Pony Club C+ test with flying colours and was also awarded Novice Eventer of the Year, and her horse Dora was awarded Horse of the Year!

Badminton

Annie (UC5) represented Gloucestershire county in the U18 National Inter County tournament.

Over 30 counties and 300 players took part, and Annie helped Gloucestershire secure 13th place. Annie played 17 matches and won 12 of them, meaning she got the highest percentage of wins in her county team.
