This week, eight girls played in the U16 Gloucestershire Schools Tournament, and there were 20 pairs in total from all around Gloucestershire. They all played really well; Gianna (UC4) and Evelyn (UC4) remained unbeaten throughout the afternoon to be crowned champions. We had our first Doubles ‘Feather Cup’ Badminton tournament for Lower College. Congratulations to our gold medallists, Cynthia and Emily (LC3) and our silver medallists, Nona and Moana (LC1).
On Sunday, 13 students entered the LTA Grade 6 Tennis Tournament held at Well Place. The sun was shining, and the standard of play was excellent. It was clear how hard the girls are working in their tennis extras. Evelyn (UC4) won the U16 singles, and Ines (UC4) came runner-up in the U14 singles. In the U18 doubles, Kenny and Evelyn (UC4) won the gold medal with Claire (UC4) and her partner from another school, who came runner-up.
Well done, all!
On Saturday, the lacrosse teams produced two strong wins from the Seniors and the U13s, alongside three end-to-end thrillers in the other age groups. The Seniors had a phenomenal second quarter performance, winning 100% possession off the draw control and converting 80% of their shots on goal, a true reflection of what this team is capable of – well done!
The U13s earned their win with excellent draw controls, a strong defensive unit and relentless attacking play, while the U15s played their best lacrosse of the season to date, showcasing strong attacking shape, slick technical skills and improved defensive positioning. The U12s and U14s continue to create standout moments of play that are absolutely picture perfect – Christiana's (LC1) goal from transition, Maita and Ally (LC3) combining forces for an assisted goal and Skylar’s saves, to name a few.
Keep up the excellent work, everyone!
On Saturday afternoon, nine teams, from U14 through to our senior squads, travelled to Clifton College for a competitive afternoon of netball. Facing exceptionally strong opposition, our players rose to the challenge with resilience, determination, and an impressive display of teamwork throughout. The matches were fast-paced and physically demanding, providing valuable opportunities for players to demonstrate their defensive tenacity, attacking creativity, and composure under pressure. It was particularly valuable preparation for our U16 and U14 regional squads, who gained vital experience playing against Clifton’s talented U19 and U14 regional teams.
We wish them all the luck at the Regional Schools Netball competition in Bournemouth this weekend!
