Sport Roundup 5th December
3rd December 2025

Tennis

Last week, we had the National Schools playing away at Millfield College. We fought hard against the strong opposition and really upped our game in the second sets of the singles and doubles. It was enjoyable playing on their indoor acrylic surface and we look forward to playing some friendly matches in the future.

Swimming

Last week, we held our Senior House Swimming competition, and it was lovely to see senior girls who hadn’t swum in a while step up for their House. We saw some fantastic performances from our team swimmers representing their Houses. It was an exciting evening of racing, with six new best times recorded, with Audrey (SFC1) setting a new House Swimming record on the breaststroke.

  • First: St Helen’s

  • Second: Farnley

  • Third: Glenlee

  • Fourth: St Margaret’s

  • Fifth: St Austin’s

  • Sixth: Sidney Lodge

Well done, all!

Squash

On Thursday 27th November, we had a fantastic afternoon of squash, hosting stage one of the National Schools competition. We played against Wycliffe College and Marlborough College, and it was wonderful to watch how much the team have improved over the year. We came second and the team demonstrated superb sportswomanship.

Badminton

On Saturday 29th November, six students travelled to Malvern College to play an intensive afternoon of matches. For some, it was their first CLC fixture and it was wonderful to see how much they improved within the two hours. We won and lost some matches.

Well done, all!

Hockey

Huge congratulations to the U14 squad, who competed in the West Regional Finals on Friday. They accrued two wins, a draw and a loss but missed out on the semi-finals due to goal difference. A tremendous effort!

On Saturday 29th November, we had a full fixture card against Haberdashers' Monmouth School and a U13 / U12 triangular with the Elms School. The focus was on goalscoring and it was good to see some excellent goals.

Lacrosse

On Saturday 29th November, we played at-home matches against Heathfield School at the HFC. It was a split fixture on results, with CLC securing two well-played wins for the first and U15s.

Congratulations to players across all age groups for their contributions on the day, applying this week’s training to the competitive match play.

You can read Match Reports on SOCS for a full review of each game, including exciting moments.

Volleyball

On Saturday 29th November, the volleyball team played Malvern College. It was a fantastic match with CLC securing the win in a final-set thriller.

Netball

Over the weekend, netball teams from U13 to SFC2 participated in a friendly sequence of fixtures at home against Heathfield School. The junior teams showed growing confidence in their centre-pass setups and transverse-line movements, which enabled them to deliver the ball safely to goal. The U15s and seniors utilised their experience to manipulate space, reset patiently, and convert set-piece opportunities into crucial goals. A fantastic afternoon of netball, well done to all involved!

Rowing

A massive well done to all those who took part in the Rowathon on Saturday 29th November.

Pupils from LC3 to SFC2, all reached the marathon distance. A special shoutout to Dagmar (SFC), who rowed 25K in total throughout the afternoon, an incredible shift.

Thank you to all the staff who supported the event! Mr Murray, Ms Woodhead and Mr Reed reached 5K, 10K and 15K, respectively. We raised £600 to help ‘Save the Rhinos’, thank you to everyone who supported and donated!
