Catch up on the latest sporting highlights from CLC.

Lacrosse

The group of young people that represented CLC at the South West Regional Tournament were, in one word, phenomenal. Every individual who played lacrosse on Saturday embodied and displayed our sporting values.

The first two games were close. CLC started strongly, taking the lead against Downe House School early in the first half, forcing the opponents to dig deep to fight back for the duration of the tournament. Against Marlborough School, CLC found themselves in deficit at halftime, but rallied to win the second half for an overall draw. Draw control proved challenging in the final two matches against St Helen and St Katharine School and Queen Anne's School, and while players put up a good fight, they ultimately conceded both games.

In the afternoon, the team focused on pushing for a place in the Championship Division; Division One was the next goal. They claimed their first, well-deserved win of the afternoon, including an OT Golden Goal, which took them through to the final. Sadly, they faced Downe House again, only to fall 2-3.

Across ten games and 140 minutes of play, this incredible group of players never gave up. They kept their minds open to learn and adjust tactics, and most importantly, played for each other, every minute of every match. It was a privilege to coach and support them. Congratulations on an incredible performance!

Lacrosse Magic Moments:

  • Katie (SFC2) had some game-changing saves and running clears in goal.

  • Izzy (SFC2) and Christie (SFC2) held the defensive unit together and initiated the attacking transition through strong runs.

  • The multisport athletes (Lacrosse and Hockey) gave their all after playing two tournaments.

  • Jojo (UC5) won the critical draw control for first possession in overtime, followed by her golden goal.

Swimming

In their match against Cheltenham College Prep, our U12 and U13 swimmers performed very well. It was lovely to see their determination in the water, as well as the support shown from the poolside. Well done to everyone, and especially to those who represented College for the first time!

Cross Country

While most students were departing College for Half Term, 15 runners represented CLC at the District Schools Championships on the infamous Hilly Course. They conquered the challenge with wonderful determination and should be congratulated for their efforts. A special mention goes to Annabelle (LC1), Joanna and Allegra (LC3), and Hannah (UC4) for being selected to represent the Cheltenham Schools Team at the County Championships in December.

Dance

Huge congratulations to Xuan Xuan (SFC1), who travelled to Brazil to compete in the prestigious RAD Fonteyn 2025 Competition, alongside 36 of the world’s top non-professional dancers. She spent four days having intensive coaching classes in São Paulo before performing beautifully in the semi-finals.
We are all extremely proud of you, Xuan Xuan!

Congratulations also to Hasadia (SFC1), who spent an inspiring two days at the Royal Academy of Dance Headquarters in London, during half term, competing in the Bedell's Bursary Competition. Hasadia enjoyed two days of coaching and masterclasses with esteemed RAD teachers. She finished the two days performing her Bluebird solo and a self-choreographed solo. We are all very pleased and proud of you, Hasadia!
