This first week back after Easter saw both Senior and UC4 House Tennis events take place - well done to Sidney Lodge for winning the Senior event and Bellairs for winning the UC4 event.
On Wednesday 30th April, we had two wonderful matches against the friendly and competitive Balcarras School in blazing hot sunshine. A great start for the U15 and U13 players involved.
On Saturday morning, we ran an internal LC1 and LC2 French Open- themed Tennis tournament during their PE session. Well done to everyone who took part, it was great to see how much you all enjoyed it. All this match play is great training for the season ahead.
On Sunday morning, we ran the U14 Singles and U18 Doubles events for the LTA ‘Play Your Way To Wimbledon’ competition. The U14 Singles winner was Maddie in LC2 and runner up was Sofia in LC1. In the Doubles competition, Maddie and Seraphina from LC2 took home the medals and Sofia and Sofea were runners up. There were lots of matches, all played in great spirit.
Our U13 and U15 teams raced superbly at the Independent Boarding School Relays on Wednesday. In a heat-declared format, our swimmers had to push hard with subsequent heats still to come — and they rose to the challenge brilliantly.
The U13 team (LC1 Georgia, Izzy and Kat, along with LC2 Georgie), came away with bronze, while the U15 team (LC3 Jess, Chizzy and Ariana, and UC4 Ellie and Anika), secured silver medals.
Well done to all involved!
We had a fantastic turnout at our meet on Saturday, with the fine weather certainly helping to lift performances. The girls shook off the cobwebs and got back into their running, jumping, and throwing, setting a really encouraging baseline for the season ahead.
The rowing squad had an excellent day at Evesham Regatta on Saturday. Nadia (SFC1) stormed through to the final without a scratch, unfortunately losing out to a very strong opponent from Worcester Rowing Club in the final.
Laurie and Ela (SFC1) raced well in a strong J18 category against lots of other clubs unfortunately missing out on a semi-final place.
Delphine (SFC1) and Florrie (SFC2) had a flying start, however also narrowly missed out on a semi-final place.
Well done to all the rowers on a fantastic day.
A lovely sunny day greeted CLC’s polo players to Longdole Polo Club. Ladin (UC4), Eva (LC1), Kat (LC1), Virangna (LC1), Danae (LC2) and Persia (UC4) all enjoyed a great lesson. If any other riders would like to join, please let Ms Scott-Wilding know - no previous polo experience needed!
We had a fantastic afternoon of volleyball against Stroud Volleyball Club. The girls were organised, encouraging of each other and positive throughout. The match was competitive and full of many positive moments and learning opportunities. After the game, both teams mixed together to play for fun!
We hosted Wycliffe College on the opening weekend of the Summer term. The 1st XI, were put into bat and set a really strong 94 from their 16 overs. Jiya (UC5) batted through to retirement with some impressive boundary hitting. A special mention to Bea (SFC1) for her excellent and busy day fielding and Athene (UC5) for taking a fabulous wicket.
The U15 team opened up the new pitch on Farnley Field with some epic scenes with both the bat and ball.
On the blue Astro, the U13s stepped up to take on the opponent’s U14s, and were able to collaborate and put on a superb display with wickets and boundaries galore.
