DISTRICT HOCKEY TOURNAMENTS

Before the end of term, CLC hosted the U12 and U13 District Hockey Tournaments. It was wonderful to see so many local pupils competing at such a good standard. Well done to CLC U13s who finished 3rd, and congratulations to the U12s who finished in 1st place.

GOLF

CLC students recently travelled to Lilley Brook Golf Club to compete in the Gloucestershire Schools Golf Championship. The three students, Jemima (SFC2 / Year 13), Sophie (SFC2 / Year 13) and Charlotte (SFC1 / Year 12), had to battle with 50mph wind gusts and heavy rain showers during their rounds. Congratulations to Jemima for finishing 3rd and Sophie for finishing 4th in the girls nett competition. This is the first golf team to represent CLC in many years.

CRICKET NEWS

The U13 and U15 Indoor Cricket Teams played in the Lady Taverners County Final - the first time we have had both teams reach that level. The game is fast, high-scoring and requires quick reactions. The U13s performed well in their pool games to make the semi-final. The U15 had the eventual winners in their pool (who we only lost to by 6 runs). Well done to both teams, you have laid the foundations for the outdoor cricket season!

TENNIS

The A Tennis Team consisting of Aimee, Clara (SFC1), Arabella (UC4 / Year 10) and Liv (LC3 / Year 9) beat a strong St Edward's team, 8-4, meaning they move into the next round of the National Schools event in April.

The B Team had a fabulous fixture against Kingswood Bath, which left Mr Padley with no nails after an afternoon of tense tie breaks and 3rd set matches. A huge well done to all the girls involved especially for playing in incredibly windy conditions.

Y5 & Y6 INTRODUCTION TO LACROSSE EVENT

CLC hosted three prep school groups for an exciting Introduction to Lacrosse event.  The day was run by our UC4s: Arabella, Georgia, Beth, Gabriella, Katie, Bibi, Bea, Issy, Christy and Emmiline who were fantastic ambassadors for CLC.  They were the Team Leaders for the Year 5 and Year 6 visitors, taking them through lots of sporting activities culminating in an exciting 6-a-side lacrosse tournament.

U12 SOUTH WEST REGIONAL LACROSSE TOURNAMENT

CLC hosted nine schools and 160 players at the U12 South West Regional 6-a-side tournament.

The U12 teams of Green, White and Blue had morning matches in mixed pools that determined the next phase of tournament play.  Team Blue secured a place in the Championship Division by placing in the top two of their pool, with Team Green and Team White moving into Division 1.

Team Blue faced tough matches in the afternoon round robin, but persisted well and stepped up to the challenge - even staging a comeback which pushed the opposition to the last minute in their knockout game.  Team Green showed improvement throughout the afternoon and Team White secured a place in the Semi Finals of Division 1.

It was a great day of play from all involved which showcased the incredible progress made over the course of the season, and the course of the day, by these young players.

NETBALL - MAY DENT U15 COUNTY TOURNAMENT

We hosted the annual May Dent Netball Tournament during the last week of term. CLC finished 4th overall with two narrow losses to the winners Pates by 1, and 2nd place King’s Gloucester by 2. There were also excellent wins against Denmark Road and Wycliffe, alongside a nail-biting draw with Farmors, even though we lost our shooting star Bea with a finger injury. Bibi, as always, was a phenomenal support on the sideline and we look forward to having her back in the team when her broken foot heals!

EQUESTRIAN NEWS

The NSEA Eventer's Challenge at Rectory Farm took place this weekend. On Saturday, Lara, Juliet, Seraphine and Hannah (all LC1 / Year 7) competed on their ponies in the 75cm, finishing a team 4th and team 6th! Chloe, Lara (both LC1) & Olivia (LC2 / Year 8) competed in the 85cm, getting a team 4th and 8th, with three clear rounds out of six! In the 95cm, we achieved a team 1st and team 5th, with Persia, Issy and Christina going clear, qualifying them for the Hickstead championships in May.

On Sunday, Seraphine and Chloe competed again in the 85cm with their ponies Anna and Barney. In the 95cm, more amazing clear rounds from Persia on Mr Jones, Bee on Blizzard and Gabriella on Koda getting a team 3rd!
