Dance

Before the Easter break, 18 girls took their RAD Ballet and ISTD Tap & Modern Examinations at the HFC. All performed extremely well and should be very proud of their achievements.

The students received four Merits, six High Merits and two Distinctions for RAD Ballet Grades, and three Passes, two Merits and a Distinction for ISTD Tap & Modern Grades.

Well done to all and many thanks to all the teachers involved in preparing the girls for their exams.

Tennis

CLC Rose Bowl Tournament

It was a great turn out for the annual Rose Bowl tennis tournament in the sunshine. SFC1 (Year 12) Arissa was the winner of the U18 event and LC2 (Year 8) Sophie the U14s. All matches were played in great spirits and lots of fun was had by all.

Swimming

After a four-year absence, it was fantastic to host eight schools and 270 swimmers from our District. Having home pool advantage certainly gave our swimmers an edge in this super competitive event. Eight records were broken in total, of which two now belong to LC1 (Year 7) CLC girls, Jess and Chizzy; congratulations to you.

UC4 (Year 10) Caitlin was also on record-breaking form, claiming the nine year UC4 College record on breaststroke. Our team also set 24 new personal bests, and, due to their fantastic efforts, they took the Year 7 and Year 8 team titles and retained the Best Overall Girls Trophy for another year - well done to all 25 swimmers.

Netball

Congratulations to Anya and Verity (UC4) who recently competed in the U15 Super Counties tournament in Worcester. They came 2nd with wins over South Staffs, Herefordshire, Shropshire, a draw with Worcestershire and a loss to Staffordshire. Verity also captained the team.

Also in action for the U13 Gloucestershire team were LC2 (Year 8) students Serena and Daphne, who represented the county at Staffordshire in an inter counties tournament.

Lacrosse

Guild Member Phoebe Thornett (2020) has been selected to represent the Scotland National Lacrosse Team at this summer's U21 European Championships. It is wonderful to see her pursuing her dream, using all the life skills and lacrosse skills she gained at CLC.

Fencing

Congratulations to Rosie (LC3 / Year 9) who has been invited to join the British Fencing Athlete Development Programme Training Camp this summer, at University of Bath. We wish her every success.

Athletics

Cheltenham & District Schools Athletics Championships

College was represented by nine athletes last Friday afternoon at the Cheltenham & District Schools Athletics Championships, and all produced sterling efforts to place highly in their events.  Results have yet to be published, so we await confirmation of their final positions and selection news for the County Championships.

Congratulations on their fine performances go to: Megan (LC2), Athene, Carys, Annointed, Charlotte and Sorekunmi (LC3), and Luli, Anya and Si Ning (UC4).

The English Schools Track & Field Cup County Round

Facing a strong field and blustery weather conditions, CLC students rose to the occasion as they undertook their two events each in this team competition.

All scored well, which resulted in our inter-team finishing 2nd and our Junior team finishing 3rd.

Congratulations also go to the following girls who set new personal bests:

LC1 Grace – 100m

LC2 Coco – 200m

LC2 Fity – 200m and Javelin

LC2 Lucy – 800m
