Hockey

Well done to Bella (SFC1 / Year 12), Sophie (UC5 / Year 11), Anna (UC4 / Year 10) and Liv (LC3 / Year 9) who have all been selected into England Hockey Talent Academies. They played their first fixtures last weekend.

Well done to Serena and Lucia (both LC2 / Year 8) who represented Gloucestershire U13 in matches last weekend against Somerset and Wiltshire.

On Saturday 11th February we welcomed Dr Don Vinson to take guest hockey coaching sessions with students from all year groups. Don is the current England U16 head coach and has a huge amount of experience working with international and National League teams.

Our girls were challenged on England Hockey’s current push to be relentless in work rate, effort and supporting team mates. They worked incredibly hard with the session continuing to highlight the potential in our fabulously talented hockey players.

Cricket

The cricket season started with a bang with both the U13 and U15 teams qualifying for the County final of the Lady Taverners indoor cricket competition.

Congratulations to Antonia (LC3 / Year 9) who won the Leon Paul U15 Epee Competition.

Table Tennis

Recently, nine CLC pupils entered the Gloucestershire Schools Table Tennis Tournament across U13, U16 and U19 age categories. The winner from each event goes through to represent College and the county at the National Schools Finals Day on 22nd April.

Sophie (LC1 / Year 7) won the U13 category, with Alice coming in second place and Tanvee (LC1 / Year 7) in fourth. Chloe (UC5 / Year 11) won the U16 category, seeing her through to the National Finals. In the U19 category, Clara (SFC1 / Year 12) came runner-up and will join the winner in going through to the finals. For us to have representatives from all three age groups in the National Finals is outstanding – huge congratulations to everyone!

Swimming

In the second round of the County Swimming Championships, College was again represented by four swimmers: Jess and Chizara (both LC1 / Year 7), Ellie (LC2 / Year 8) and Katie (UC4 / Year 10). All made a sterling effort, with Ellie recording new personal bests, and Jess taking the County U12 title in the 100m Back and reaching the podium in three other events. We wish them well for the final round of races.
