Recently, we saw the first ever evening exhibition ‘Night Lights’ match held at Wycliffe College. It was an exciting event for all involved and a fantastic standard of netball was played. Congratulations to CLC for taking the first year’s honours. It was a wonderful highlight for the SFC2 (Year 13) players nearing the end of their playing career at College.
This weekend the CLC teams showed what they were made of at the National Schools Lacrosse Tournament. They approached every moment, every game together – either in their individual teams or as a squad. The 1st team won six, drew one and lost three while the 2nd team advanced to the quarter finals of their division.
The players’ enthusiasm, determination, courage, confidence and community spirit made the weekend an incredible experience. It was great to see this wonderful group of young women playing great lacrosse and earning great results because of their attitude, their fortitude and their support of each other.
A special thanks to all our departing SFC2 (Year 13) players who have given so much to the programme – you have all been great leaders in your own way and you made this season one to remember and to treasure for a lifetime.
The U13s played a high standard of lacrosse throughout the day. The teamwork displayed on the pitch showcased precise movement of the ball supported by strong cuts that allowed for smooth transitions and well constructed scoring opportunities. The defensive unit held the opposition out with Fity and Grace (both LC2 / Year 8) making great saves in goal. These year groups not only showed great effort on the day but also incredible potential for the future. A massive congratulations to all the players involved!
Last Saturday, 13 of our dancers performed at Christ Church in a Royal Society of Church Music event celebrating Saint Cuthbert. They performed to two very dramatic piano duets, as Demons and Warriors; dancing down the aisles and on the altar of the church demonstrating a number of very impressive lifts. Congratulations to all the girls and teachers involved!
On Friday 10th March, Jess (LC1 / Year 7), Katie and Bernice (both UC4 / Year 10) and Ella (UC5 / Year 11) represented CLC at the historic Bath and Otter Relays at the London Olympic Pool. The girls relished this unique opportunity and did superbly in the 50m pool, posting times that exceeded their target time. They should be proud of their efforts.
On Saturday, we held the annual Cadbury Squash Tournament at CLC. The tournament caters for all ages in boys and girls from U9 to U19 mixed events. Everyone gets an Easter egg and the emphasis is on fun and improving your own game through match play. We had 18 CLC students competing, which is our highest number to date! It was an awesome day of squash – well done to all!
Congratulations to Megan (LC2 / Year 8) who recently achieved three personal bests out of the five pentathlon events when she competed at Sheffield in the England U15 Combined Events Championships. This was Megan’s first pentathlon and she finished 16th out of a field of 30 U15s. This is a fantastic achievement for Megan, particularly competing in an older age group.
Congratulations to Elke (SFC2 / Year 13) who has recently been competing for Team GB. It is an amazing experience for Elke to be part of a fantastic Nordic Ski team with so much positive energy.
Cynthia and Rosie competed in the Public Schools’ Fencing Championships in London last week. Cynthia won all of her bouts in her pool, and Rosie won four out of five bouts losing one match by one point. Both girls went through to the second round and after some extremely tough matches, they made it through to the final. With an all-CLC final, Cynthia took the win. An excellent result for both of them – well done!
Last week saw the Seniors in action on the hockey pitches and the UC4s on the netball courts. Great demonstrations of teamwork, resilience and determination were on show for both events – well done to everyone who took part. The runner-up in Senior Hockey were Eversleigh and the winners, Farnley Lodge. In UC4 (Year 10) Netball, congratulations to Glengar as runner-up and to Glenlee for taking this year’s title.

This week, College hosted the U12 and U13 District Hockey Tournaments. It was wonderful to see so many local pupils competing at such as good standard. Well done to CLC U13s who finished third and congratulations to the U12s who finished in first place.
