Swimming

An early term gala is always a test of fitness and determination, and this was shown in abundance at the CLC Spring Sprint Meet, with exciting close races and swimmers pushing each other on to give their best. Well done all, and a particular mention goes to LC1 (Year 7) student Chizara for beating SFC2 (Year 13) student Karintha’s LC1 25m Back school record.

Four swimmers represented College in the first round of Gloucestershire County Swimming Championships: Jess and Chizara (LC1 / Year 7), Ellie (LC2 / Year 8) and Katie (UC4 / Year 10). Racing in a 50m pool is a test of stamina, and our four rose to the challenge and should be commended for this. Highlights came with Ellie setting a new personal best in the 50m Free, whilst Jess was undefeated in the U12 50m Free, and also finished on the podium in the 50m Fly, 200m Individual Medley, and 100m Back.

Netball

The South West Regional Finals at Bournemouth are the pinnacle of the netball season. Having qualified as County Champions, CLC’s U16 players represented Gloucestershire against the other teams in the region. We battled in every match and took several injuries along the way, with everyone showing resilience and support for each other in tough contests. Finishing with a win and on a high, the team showed how they could play. Well done to Aida, Poppy, Tessa, Issy, Ella, Bel and Bea (all UC5 / Year 11), Ella (LC3 / Year 9), Verity and Anya (UC4 / Year 10).

Despite a valiant effort, St Swithun's took the win but our players have had a super run in the cup and should be very proud of their achievements. Well done to Bibi, Bea, Anya, Verity, Fiona, Mofe, Sienna, Kat and Lulu (all UC4 / Year 10).
