Squash

Congratulations to all the players who represented their Junior Houses in House Squash last week. Well done to St Helen’s who came first, with Farnley Lodge in second place and Glenlee in third. It was a great atmosphere. Well done to all Houses that entered a team.

Badminton

On Sunday, LC3 (Year 9) pupil Annie played for Gloucestershire in an U19 county match against Devon. Annie played number one and won her singles match and two doubles matches. She narrowly lost in the mixed doubles where she partnered a boy from Cheltenham College. This is an amazing achievement for the 13 year old. Well done Annie!

Cricket

We are delighted to share the success of two CLC pupils being selected for the Gloucestershire cricket winter training programmes.

Issy (SFC1 / Year12) has worked hard to earn her place for this season. Her dedication, commitment and motivation secured her place in the U18 Performance squad.

Jiya (LC3 / Year 9) makes the huge leap from U13 Development squad into U15 Performance squad showing her rise in form and continued desire to be the best she can be.

Both girls will be training in Bristol through the Spring Term to prepare for what will no doubt be a busy and successful cricket season.

Hockey

The CLC U14 Hockey Team were outstanding last Thursday, playing in the U14 Gloucestershire Cup; growing in confidence, demonstrating their ability to make connections and convert their chances. A tense penalty shootout secured their spot in the final. They were crowned County Champions and did not concede a goal! The squad now prepares for Regionals.

Netball

The U19 County Netball Cup saw the top teams in Gloucestershire compete for regional qualification and CLC came very close to winning, taking third place – an excellent achievement!

The whole team did amazingly well with some great leadership shown by senior figures and exceptional play throughout. They dug deep, despite a pivotal injury to a key player, and recorded victories against Cheltenham College, Dean Close, Stroud High, Sir Thomas Rich’s, Wycliffe and Marling. They eventually lost to the top two teams: Pates’ Grammar and Hartpury College.

Congratulations to all the squad: Eniami, Anna, Jemima, Hannah, Ife, Temi, Freya (all SFC2 / Year 13), Momo, Alissa, Alisa, Aurura (all SFC1 / Year 12).

Cross Country

Last week was very busy with CLC teams competing at two cross country events. First, we had three teams competing in the area round of the English Schools Cup Competition and they acquitted themselves superbly, giving of their all. All three teams qualified – the first time all teams have got through for the Regional Competition.

Secondly, 18 pupils competed at the Cheltenham and District Schools’ Cross Country Championships on Friday. Racing over a tough course, the girls showed great tenacity and resilience.
