Starting SFC1
14th September 2023

As a new student starting at CLC in SFC1 (Year 12) this September and boarding for the first time, I felt quite nervous coming to College. However after the induction I was left reassured and quite excited to start the school year.

On our first day here, we were welcomed to our houses and to our rooms by our lovely houseparent. In our rooms we found cards, info booklets and chocolates from the House Committee which left me already feeling a sense of connection to College. We also had a welcoming dinner in which we were introduced to the staff and said our bittersweet goodbyes to parents.

In the following days we had inductions to the school and to the Health and Fitness Centre during which we participated in a range of tasks. The activities I enjoyed the most were the icebreakers where we had to complete a few tasks, like crafting a catapult from paper and ordering our whole year group in age and then in height order.

The whole induction process was wrapped up with a delicious barbecue at the HFC. Overall, the process was fun, engaging, informative and I was able to connect with the CLC community and feel at home here at CLC.
