The Summer Concert this year was a celebration of everything musical at College and a triumph to finally be back to full strength following the restrictions imposed through Covid.
The audience were in for a treat from the very start of the concert, with Symphony Orchestra’s performance of the famous Dambusters March and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.4 reverberating around the Princess Hall.
Music from Sister Act, Pitch Perfect, Mr Sandman, Les Misérables, and composer Bartók, to name a few, filled the hall – all receiving tremendous applause, but it was Jazz Band’s finale that really got the audience foot tapping and clapping to the beat of that famous number, September.
A very special mention has to go to SFC2 (Year 13) student Kitty and her wonderful song To Autumn, written for vocal ensemble as part of her A Level submission. It was very moving and clearly meant so much to the SFC2 A Level students who performed it.
A huge thank you to every musician and singer involved in the concert – it was an absolute triumph!
Mr Lloyd, Head of Music
