Trip to Salamanca
24th November 2022

On Friday 21st October, 40 students headed off to Salamanca in Spain with Ms Berganza, Mr Sumner, Mrs Roca and Mr Moya from the Spanish Department. After a long day of travelling, we arrived in Salamanca where we were introduced to our host families who warmly welcomed us.

We managed to fit several activities into a short trip. Our activities included a guided tour of Salamanca where we were able to see its beautifully rich architecture, a visit to the old university buildings (the second oldest university in the world), Salamanca’s Museum of Modern Art, the Casa Lis, and much more.

Another highlight was all the traditional food, such as empanadas and Jamon Iberico sandwiches, which are staples of Salamanca, as well as the infamous dessert dish churros con chocolate. Finally, on our last morning we engaged in some grammar and conversation activities with the Colegio Delibes language school, who organised our time in Salamanca alongside Mr Moya. We ended our trip with a cooking lesson where we learned how to cook Spanish tortilla and had a Salsa lesson.

The 2022 Spanish trip to Salamanca was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I’m so happy I decided to go. Overall, it was a fantastic trip where many of us formed new friendships, experienced the culture of Salamanca, and improved our Spanish-speaking skills.
