A splendid evening was had by all at the Upper College Music Scholars’ Recital, which took place just before Half Term on Wednesday 16th February. It was a delight to be able to perform once again the Parabola Arts Centre, as it offers a very different performing experience for both the student and audience alike. It was wonderful, too, to be able to welcome parents back in such large numbers for this concert.
The programme of music, as always, was broad and there was something in it for everyone, including Mozart, Gershwin, Fauré, Vivaldi, Rodgers and Hammerstein and more. The playing was exquisite and every Scholar rose to the occasion performing with such confidence and clear enjoyment.
A huge congratulations to UC4 (Year 10) students - Livvie, Vivien, Costanza, Nina, Audrey and Julie, and to UC5 (Year 11) students - Aida, Zadie and Sophie.
A special mention should also go to their teachers for helping them prepare so well for the concert, and of course the accompanists, Mr Jones, Mr Lloyd and Mr Stockton.
The Spring Concert takes place on Wednesday 15th March at 7.30pm in the Princess Hall, with a reception before hand at 6.30pm in the GCR.
Mr Lloyd, Head of Music
