A Doll’s House Trip

SFC1 and SFC2 students travelled to London to see a critically acclaimed production of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House at the Almeida Theatre.

This modern interpretation of the classic text offered a fresh perspective on the play’s themes of identity, independence and societal expectation. The production featured a minimalist set and exceptional acting, demonstrating how powerful storytelling can be achieved through simplicity and precision.

Students were able to observe how meaning is communicated through performance, design and directorial choices – all essential components of their A-level studies. As students are currently studying Hedda Gabler, this experience provided valuable contextual understanding of Ibsen’s work and dramatic style.

The trip was both enriching and inspiring, helping students to deepen their appreciation of classical theatre in a contemporary context.
