Celebrating Student Success at the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2026

Congratulations to Karen (UC4), who reached the televised Final 40 stage of BBC Young Musician 2026 as runner-up for the percussion place.

The competition showcases some of the finest young musicians in the country, and Karen’s achievement is a testament to her exceptional talent, hard work and dedication, as well as the outstanding opportunities for young musicians at CLC.

On an instrument traditionally dominated by men, Karen is a wonderful role model, and she is one of many talented young percussionists at CLC who are doing just that. Karen is featured in the second programme in the Young Musician series, which is now available on iPlayer.
